Nationally-acclaimed baritone Matthew Juhlin is widely recognized for his colorful timbre and exquisite musicianship. He is currently in his final year of pursuing a B.M. in Vocal Performance at Missouri State University under the teaching of Dr. Chris Thompson. He has been seen as Robin Oakapple (Ruddigore), Mr. Big Bad (Little Red’s Most Unusual Day), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan Tutte), and Simone (Gianni Schicchi) with Missouri State University Opera under the direction of Dr. Ann-Marie Daehn. He has also become increasingly involved as a young artist at Ozarks Lyric Opera, recently performing as Don Pizarro (Fidelio) and Masetto (Don Giovanni). For the last two years he has attended the Vocal Immersion Program at Castleton, studying with mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung and tenor Paul Groves. Matthew has also attended the Young Artists Vocal Academy at Houston Grand Opera where he studied under Dr. Stephen King for the duration of the program. Additionally, he has received multiple awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), receiving 1st Place twice over the last few years in his categories at the National NATS conference.
